STRATEGIC PLANNING FOR ADAPTIVE ORGANIZATIONS

THE CHALLENGE

Most strategic planning processes produce a plan. Few produce an organization capable of executing it when circumstances change — and they will. The gap between a sound strategy and one that actually holds is not analytical. It is organizational: the capacity to sense change early, make decisions under uncertainty, and adapt without losing momentum.

This workshop is designed for executive teams who want both.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS LEAVE WITH

A strategic framework built explicitly for adaptive conditions, co-created with the executive team during the session, and immediately applicable to the organization's current priorities.

Participants leave with a working strategy document, not a workshop summary. The session produces outputs, not just alignment.

WHAT THE WORKSHOP COVERS

This is a working session, not a lecture. The facilitator role is to structure the conversation, surface the hard questions, and ensure the team produces something it can act on.

Key areas:

Assessing the current strategic position — where the organization actually stands, what assumptions the current strategy rests on, and which of those assumptions are most exposed to disruption.

Identifying adaptive capability gaps — which organizational capabilities are most critical to executing this strategy, and where the gaps are.

Scenario planning for change conditions — testing the strategy against realistic disruption scenarios and identifying where it breaks.

Building in decision triggers — defining in advance what conditions would require the strategy to be revisited, and who has authority to call that review.

Execution architecture — translating strategic priorities into a governance structure that can actually sustain them.

HOW IT WORKS

The 2-day intensive is recommended for executive teams working through a significant strategic transition or preparing for a major change initiative. The additional day allows the team to move from diagnosis to a tested, executable plan.

Train-the-Trainer: €5,500 — equips internal strategy or OD leads to facilitate this process independently within the organization. Includes facilitation materials and a structured debrief with Kelly.

All pricing is exclusive of VAT. Travel and accommodation charged at cost for in-person delivery outside Vienna.

WHO THIS IS FOR

C-suite and senior executive teams responsible for organizational strategy — particularly those leading a transformation, preparing for significant market disruption, or realigning strategy following a merger, acquisition, or leadership transition.

Minimum effective group size: 5 executive participants.

"This completely changed how we approach strategic planning. Instead of spending months creating a rigid 3-year plan that's obsolete in 6 months, we now have a strategic intent that guides us while allowing teams to adapt tactics. Game-changing."

- Michael B., CEO, Technology Scale-up

"The scenario planning exercise alone was worth the investment. We identified three futures we hadn't considered and made strategic bets we wouldn't have made with traditional planning."

- Judith M., COO, Construction

For executive teams who want to go beyond the workshop, the Adaptive Capability Diagnostic provides a full organizational assessment across six dimensions of adaptive maturity and a strategic roadmap for building long-term adaptive capacity. Most participants in this workshop use it as a starting point.
