Becoming Her: Embracing the Power of Midlife Transformation

I will be honest. When perimenopuase came knocking on my door, I thought it had the wrong address. In my mind, menopause was something that happened to old ladies. Surely, I was too young, too vibrant, too...me. I kept waiting for my body to realize I wasn't old yet. But it didn't.
What began as disbelief slowly became acceptance. And eventually, something that suprised me even more: gratitude.
This season is strange, yes. It's emotional, messy, and filled with contradictions. One moment, I am mourning the woman I used to be. The next, I am proud of the woman I am becoming.
Some mornings, I look in the mirror and see silver hair and wrinkles. Other days, I see strength, wisdom, and an unshakable confidence that I never had before.
Perimenopause and menopause are not just endings. They are transformations. And they deserve to be celebrated.
The poem below is my love letter to myself but also to every woman standing in this in-between phase, learning to release what was and welcome what is.
Becoming Her
There is a quiet magic in this shift,
a rising from within,
where endings meet beginnings
and she steps into her skin.
The girl, the dreamer, the nurturer
each bows and takes her place,
their echoes woven gently
into the wisdom on her face.
Her silver strands are lightning,
each spark a tale of might.
Her softness has become her power,
her calmness pure delight.
She is done apologizing
for taking up space.
She walks with grounded knowing,
with fire and with grace.
Her body tells her stories
in curves and strength and scars,
a home that has weathered seasons
and still reaches for the stars.
She honors who she used to be,
the laughter, love, and pain,
and knows that losing versions past
is how her truth remains.
Now boundaries bloom like wildflowers,
rooted, strong, and free.
No longer seeking to be liked,
she is choosing simply to be.
So here's to the woman rising,
to her courage, heart, and voice,
to the power in her presence,
and her unapologetic choice.
She is not fading, she is ascending.
She is not less, she is whole.
This is not the end of beauty,
it is the unveiling of her soul.
A Celebration, Not a Goodbye
Midlife isn't the closing of a chapter. It is the rewriting of the story. It is written with more honesty, more laughter, and far fewer apologies.
This is the season when wisdom meets courage, when "enough" or "no" becomes a full sentence, and when beauty finally comes home to authenticity.
To every woman walking this path:
You are radiant in your becoming.
You are allowed to grieve, to rest, to rise, and to take up space doing it all.
Here's to your next chapter.
Here's to Becoming Her.

A reflection of my own unexpected journey through perimenopause and menopause, where disbelief gave way to gratitude and I discovered that growing older isn't losing yourself. It's meeting yourself, fully, for the very first time.
